Oracle Self-Service Web Applications - Version: 11.5.8
This problem can occur on any platform.
Symptoms
--------
After selecting a Responsibility from the main menu, the system issues error:
"Cannot complete applications login. You may have entered an invalid applications password, or there may have been a database connect error."
Cause
-----
The Guest Password is corrupt.
Solution
--------
Check the following - Guest password should be the same in the following locations:
1.) What is the GUEST_USER_PWD set to in $FND_TOP/secure/*.dbc
2.) Log in the Forms60cgi
http://<machine.domain>:<webPort>/dev60cgi/f60cgi
System Administrator responsibility
Navigate to Profile / System
Edit the profile option "Guest User Password" to GUEST/<GUEST PASSWD> at site level
Reset it to what is in the dbc file - Even if they already match, reset them to what is in the dbc file and save the changes.
3) Still in Forms60cgi
System Administrator responsibility
Navigate to
Security > User > Defined
Reset the password for the GUEST user to what is in the dbc file.
Also make sure this record is not end dated.
select START_DATE,END_DATE FROM FND_USER
where user_name = 'GUEST';
4) Recreate the dbc file
First remove it
$COMMON_TOP/admin/install/adgendbc.sh appsus appspw -deinstall and retest (this will require iAS restart)
Then recreate it by either running autoconfig or
$COMMON_TOP/admin/install/adgendbc.sh
5) Run :
FNDCPASS APPS/APPS 0 Y SYSTEM/<PWD = MANAGER> USER GUEST <GUEST PASSWD>
Here are some additional scripts to validate the guest account
select a.profile_option_name, b.profile_option_value, b.level_value
from fnd_profile_options_vl a , fnd_profile_option_values b
where a.profile_option_id = b.profile_option_id
and b.profile_option_id=3805
select FND_PROFILE.value('GUEST_USER_PWD') from dual;
select apps.fnd_web_sec.validate_login('GUEST','ORACLE') from dual;
Now bounce the apps and retest.
